Assessment, Intervention and PSYCHOlogic Change (AIM@PSI)

This group conducts research on the psychological processes underlying adaptation, development, and well-being across the lifespan, seeking to understand the cognitive, emotional, behavioural, interpersonal, and contextual factors that promote or hinder psychological adjustment in different populations and settings. Its scientific activity encompasses clinical, educational, forensic, and community contexts, with particular emphasis on the challenges associated with developmental transitions, mental health, ageing, adjustment to higher education, and legal and judicial contexts.

The group’s research is organised into four main strands: (i) the development, cross-cultural adaptation, and validation of psychological assessment instruments; (ii) the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based programmes for prevention, health promotion, and psychological intervention; (iii) the study of processes of development, adaptation, resilience, and psychological change across the lifespan, including periods of transition and vulnerability; and (iv) research in forensic psychology, focusing on psychological assessment, risk and protective factors, and the psychological processes relevant to justice and protection systems.

The group prioritises innovative and multidisciplinary methodological approaches, contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge and to its transfer to professional practice, services, and public policy. The research findings aim to promote mental health, well-being, social inclusion, and quality of life, as well as to support evidence-based decision-making in the fields of health, education, and justice.
